Can I use ElevenLabs audio commercially?
Commercial use requires a paid plan. The Free plan is non-commercial and requires attribution to ElevenLabs; the Commercial License begins at the Starter tier ($6/month). Once generated on a paid plan, you retain commercial rights to that audio.
Do my credits roll over if I don’t use them?
Yes, on paid plans. Unused credits roll over for up to two months (up to 2× your monthly quota), so your balance can reach at most 3× your monthly allotment while your subscription stays active. Rollover does not apply to the Free plan.
How do characters and credits relate?
Credits meter usage across all products from one shared pool. For the standard multilingual models, one text character equals one credit; Flash/Turbo models can cost less per character. Your plan’s monthly credits determine how much audio you can generate.
What’s the difference between Instant and Professional Voice Cloning?
Instant Voice Cloning creates a clone from a short sample (roughly 1–5 minutes) and is available from the Starter tier. Professional Voice Cloning trains on 30+ minutes of audio for higher fidelity and unlocks at the Creator tier.
Can I clone someone else’s voice?
Only with the voice owner’s consent. ElevenLabs’ policies prohibit cloning a voice you don’t own or lack explicit permission to use, and cloning public figures without consent is banned. Violations can lead to account termination.
What happens to my audio if I cancel my subscription?
Your account downgrades to the Free plan at the end of the billing cycle and unused credits are forfeited. Audio you already generated commercially under a paid plan keeps its commercial rights.
Is there a free plan or just a trial?
There’s a permanent Free plan (not a time-limited trial) with 10,000 credits per month that resets monthly, intended for testing and non-commercial projects.
